As much as we love the idea of being able to sell pitches just by offering creativity, skills, introducing yourself and showcase your work, the reality is that it takes a much more unique approach to achieve this. Therefore we have a few tips here to improve your selling:
- Don’t sell anything you’re not good at or familiar with. Quality is important. A few bad reviews can kill your selling in the future.
- Be clear about what you are selling. Provide a clear description of yourself and what exactly you can do for that amount of price. The buyer should know what to expect and get from ordering your pitch as to avoid cancellation or disappointment from both parties.
- Make a video posting. Uploading a video with an introduction and example of your product or service will create more goodwill. Video postings are much better received and more personal towards the audience.
- Create more pitches and be creative with it. There are a variety of products or services you can offer with a certain kind of skill. Show people the possibilities and the numerous products/services you can provide by being an artist.
For example, if you are a sing and songwriter:
Instead of posting one pitch in which you showcase your work and offer lyrics writing, covers and compose, you can make 3 creative and funny pitches to get the audience attention.
Pitch 1 : Sing a customized happy birthday song for your mother and promote yourself on a short video posting as a lyrics writer. And that you can customize a happy birthday song for 10 dollar.
Pitch 2: Make a cover of a popular song and make a video posting. For example, post your own version of Rolling in the deep by Adele while wearing a t-shirt with a company name or logo on it for a price of 15 dollar.
Pitch 3: Post a really funny 30 seconds video of your dog to draw attention and play it with a catching background music that you composed. Offer the audience background music for their own videos or for video games company. You might need to think about how much you ask per 30 seconds as to prevent yourself from earning the same amount of money for a much longer video which means more work. Being clear is very important for yourself and for the buyer.
- Commercialize your talent and convert your pitch into sales. What are the needs in your niche? Think about hot topics in the media and trends. I have a great example for this. I used to know an artist selling comic fans a cartoonized drawing of themselves and their favorite comic character standing next to them. Very cool idea right? It was so well received, that he even got orders from Bruce lee fans, making drawings of people and their idol standing next to each other.
- Promote your pitches socially. So you have spend time and effort creating your own unique and catchy pitches. Don’t forget to spread it in your own social network. Share your pitch with your Facebook friends, ask them to like it and post it on Twitter on a regular basis. This is a very effective way of getting noticed. Pitches that are socially active receive better ranking in our popularity search. Once you made your first sale, make sure that your buyers are happy. Positive feedbacks is the key to continuous business and getting noticed by other buyers.
Be creative and have fun!
